Background

The Journal of Construction Procurement was established following a CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction; the leading international network for innovation in construction) W92 working committee on procurement in Gran Canary, 1993. At the time, it was felt that procurement research and practice was not widely disseminated and that there were no erudite international journals focusing upon this area.

Therefore, in 1995 the International Procurement Research Group (IPRG), led by Professor Roy Morledge ( Nottingham Trent University), Professor Peter Hibberd (formally University of Glamorgan, now Joint Contracts Tribunal Ltd) and Professor David Jaggar ( Liverpool John Moores University) was formed to develop this idea further, and momentum was added by the publication of numerous reports around the world.

In 2003, the editorial of the Journal was passed to Dr Peter McDermott of the University of Salford, and as stands today.
